The Sedalia Democrat

The Smith-Cotton girls soccer team made history on Thursday night.

The Lady Tigers beat Warrensburg 3-0 to win their first West Central Conference championship.

After Saturday’s 8-0 victory over Clinton, they are one win from putting their names in the record book again.

S-C (18-4, 9-0) will attempt to complete a perfect conference season on Tuesday against O’Hara in Kansas City.

The Lady Tigers beat O’Hara 6-0 April 4 in their previous meeting.

S-C shot out to a 4-0 lead in a match played on its home field.

The Lady Tigers didn’t have much trouble getting win No. 9 on Saturday, as four players scored their first goals of the season in the rout.

Meagan Klein and Whitney Pollitt scored their first goals in a match played at Clinton.

Katie Kirby and Halee Ruckman picked up their  first and second goals of the season.

Goalkeeper Cristian Sharp even got a chance to score a goal.

She played on offense during the second half but couldn’t finish a shot despite having several opportunities.

Amanda Azan and Jessica Greer accounted for the Lady Tigers’ other goals.

Sharp and Claire Waldo combined for the shutout.
