Tigers go 0-for-4 in district tennis tournament

Tsao comes closest to win in 8-5 first-round loss

The Smith-Cotton boys tennis team didn’t stay around long Saturday in the Class 4, District 5, tournament.

Both  of the Tigers’ singles players and double teams lost their first matches at Bethel Park in Columbia.

Matt Roehrs and Chris Shepard reached the second round in doubles because they received a first-round bye.

Jay Kinderknecht and Eemaun Latifi, of Rock Bridge, beat the Smith-Cotton duo 6-3, 6-0.

Ryan Bell and Adam Tilley lost 6-0, 6-0, to Tony Stephenson and Michael LeRoy, of Helias, in the second round.

He received a bye  in the first round.

In singles, Anthony Tsao lost 8-5 to Sam Ott, of Helias, in the first round.

Dustin Bergman received a first-round bye. He lost 6-0, 6-0, to Ryan Claypool, of Jefferson City, in the second round.
