ROUNDUP: Case, Smithton win pitcher's duel
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Second-seeded Smithton’s Alysha Case struck out 12 batters while allowing only one hit and one walk in seven innings Monday in the first round of the Kaysinger Conference softball tournament at Lincoln. Smithton beat Green Ridge 1-0.
Smithton had only two hits. Taryn Klein singled and scored on Sedel Marino’s base hit.
Smithton will face Sacred Heart in the semifinals at 6 p.m. today in Cole Camp.
Santa Fe 5, Sweet Springs 1
Fourth-seeded Santa Fe scored three runs — two on errors and one on a wild pitch — in the third inning Monday in the first round of the I-70 Conference softball tournament at Alma.
Danielle Bock went 3-for-4 with a double to pace Santa Fe.
Chelsea Gieselman was the winning pitcher, and Kathleen Tyler took the loss.
Kristin Jones went 4-for-4 with a double to lead Sweet Springs.
