ROUNDUP: Smithton takes third in Kaysinger

Smithton scored four runs in the sixth inning Tuesday to beat Lincoln 7-3 in the third-place game of the rain-delayed Kaysinger Conference softball tournament at Smithton.

Lincoln took a 3-1 lead in the top of the fifth, and Smithton (9-1) tied the score at 3 in the bottom of the fifth.

Alysha Case was the winning pitcher. She gave up three runs — one earned — on six hits with seven strikeouts and two walks in seven innings.

Rachel Young took the loss,  permitting seven runs on six hits with two strikeouts and four walks in 5 1/3 innings.

Melissa Williams went 3-for-3 with a double and three RBIs to lead Smithton.

Jillian Burrows doubled, tripled and drove in two runs. Taryn Klein 2-went-3.

Lacey Dulaban doubled and drove home two runs for Lincoln. Trisha Cook had one hit and one RBI.

Sacred Heart 12, Cole Camp 2

Kelsey Baldwin and Rachel Fisher threw six solid innings Tuesday, and the Sacred Heart softball team supplied plenty of offense  in Cole Camp.

Laura McMullin scored four runs and had a pair of hits as the Gremlins (5-1) earned a win in a six-inning game. Baldwin had two hits and three RBIs while pitching two innings and striking out four without allowing a hit.

Debbie Lewis added two more RBIs and a double while Fisher pitched the last four innings and allowed one hit while striking out three and walking one.
