Six boys from The Democrat’s coverage area won all-state medals Friday at the Missouri state track and field championships in Jefferson City.
The top eight finishers in each event won all-state honors.
Benjamin Calvert, of Smithton, placed third in the 3200-meter run in 10 minutes, 23.50 seconds. Aaron Viets, of Kansas City Lutheran, won in 10:12.83.
Cullen Rosine, of Knob Noster, tied for fifth in the high jump (6-1). Deandre Vandevender, of Trenton, won (6-6) the event.
Colby Brand, Tony Demma, Chris Stehle and Joel Krause, all of Knob Noster, placed sixth in the 3200 relay in 8:18.58. A Principia team won in 7:59.82.
Several other local athletes qualified for the finals:
•Tanner Edwards, of Tipton, placed second in his 200 heat in 22.58 and fourth in his 100 heat in 11.33.
•Knob Noster’s Dylan Bradley, Colby Brand, Krause and Mike Regan placed second in their 1600 relay heat in 3:30.83.
•Joey White, of Concordia, placed fourth in his 400 heat in 52.90.
In other results involving local athletes:
•Bradley placed fourth in his 400 heat in 52.23. The cutoff time was 52.21.
•Tipton’s Keil Allison, Trey Allison, Marcus Brinkley and Edwards finished sixth in their 400 relay heat in 45.52. The cutoff time was 44.82.
•Blake Shrout, of Bunceton, tied for eighth in the pole vault (10-6). He lost the tiebreaker and didn’t earn an all-state honor. Will Haer, of Craig, won with a jump of 13-3.
•Tray Lange, of Cole Camp, finished 11th in the 3200 in 10:15.72. Ethan Beaver, of College Heights Christian, won in 9:37.80.
•Regan tied for 11th in the high jump (5-10).
•Garrett Gilbert, of Cole Camp, placed 12th in the long jump (20-0). Deandre Vandevender, of Trenton, won with a jump of 22-2.5.
•Warsaw’s Grant Pate, Coty Winsauer, Allen Painter and Corey Stackhouse placed 15th in the 3200 relay in 8:39.07.
