Knob Noster, Windsor qualify several girls for sectionals

Ten girls from Knob Noster and one from Windsor will compete in a Class 2 sectional track and field meet Saturday in Cleveland, Mo.

Those athletes finished in the top four Saturday in the Class 2, District 5, meet at Cass-Midway in Cleveland.

Knob Noster sent all four of its girls relay teams to the sectionals.

Brianna Blacklock, Sarah Tyler, Kyra Williams and Christina Jones won the 400 relay in 51.2 seconds.

The quartet set a school record, beating the previous mark of 52.38 that had held since 1985.

Carrie Binder, Tyler, Williams and Jones won the 800 relay in 1:48.46.

Blacklock, Tyler, Williams and Binder placed third in the 1600 relay in 4:22.66.

Alex Bussiere, Lyndi Morton, Kari Scoby and Cassidy Storms finished fourth in the 3200 relay in 11:39.

Jones won district championships in the 100 (12.47) and the 200 (26.97).

Candi Mueller finished third in the shot put with a throw of 31-02.

Windsor sent only one girl to the sectional meet.

Megan Sheffield placed second in the triple jump (31-10) and third in the long jump (15-6).
