ROUNDUP: Northwest, Sacred Heart, Lincoln win in Kaysinger

Top-seeded Northwest rolled into the semifinals of the Kaysinger Conference softball tournament Monday at Cole Camp.

Mariah Wiskur pitched three no-hit innings in Northwest's 17-0 win over Stover in a game that was called after three because of the mercy rule.

She struck out seven and walked one and went 2-for-2 with three runs scored at the plate.

Meredith Norfleet went 2-for-2 with four RBIs and three runs scored. Kelcey Dankenbring had one hit and three RBIs.

Kelsey Fox took the loss.

Northwest (11-0) will face Lincoln in the semifinals at 4 p.m. today in Cole Camp.

Sacred Heart 11, Cole Camp 1

Laura Honn and Kelsey Baldwin combined on a one-hitter Monday in the first round of the Kaysinger Conference softball tournament at Lincoln.

Honn, the winning pitcher, allowed one hit with five strikeouts and four walks in 4 2/3 innings.

Quincy Harms took the loss, giving up 10 runs on seven hits with one strikeout and 12 walks in six innings.

Honn and Fisher each had two hits including a double. Debbie Lewis, Miranda Ortmeyer and Paige Shipley had singles for the Gremlins.

Bethany Cole had Cole Camp’s only hit, a double in the fifth inning.

Sacred Heart (2-1) will face No. 2 Smithton in the semifinals at 6 p.m. today in Cole Camp.

Lincoln 11, La Monte 9

Lincoln held off a late La Monte charge Monday to win the first-round game in the Kaysinger Conference softball tournament at Lincoln.

La Monte scored in each of the last four innings after falling behind 8-1. The Lady Vikings scored one run in the fourth and fifth innings and three in the sixth to slice Lincoln’s lead to 8-6.

Lincoln scored three runs, including a two-run homer by Trisha Cook, in the top of the seventh, but La Monte didn’t quit, scoring three runs.

Rachel Young was the winning pitcher. She gave up nine runs on four hits with nine strikeouts and four walks in six innings.

Brianna Davis took the loss. She permitted 11 runs on eight hits with four strikeouts and nine walks  in seven innings.

Kara Ward paced Lincoln with three hits. Lacey Dulaban and Alex Cooke had two hits each.

Cook drove home a team-high four runs, and Ward had two RBIs.

Chante Holcombe had two hits, a  double and a triple, to lead La Monte.
