Emporia State’s women’s basketball team used a strong push late in Saturday’s South Central Regional semifinal game to beat Northwest Missouri 83-71.

The Lady Hornets didn’t hold a lead until 2:50 had passed in the second half in Canyon, Texas. They took the lead for good with 10:29 remaining on a layup by Edwards and closed the game on a 23-10 tear.

Emporia State will face Washburn in the championship game at 7 p.m. today.
