Smith-Cotton rebounded strongly from an opening-game loss but dropped a 2-1 overtime heartbreaker Wednesday to William Chrisman at the Lee’s Summit West tournament.
With Willliam Chrisman leading 1-0, Skyler Lee scored for Smith-Cotton with 10 minutes left to force the overtime. The teams fought to a scoreless first half.
William Chrisman scored on a breakaway in OT to win the game.
The Tigers opened the tourney and their season with a 4-0 loss on Tuesday to Raytown.
VOLLEYBALL
Northwest def. St. Paul 25-19, 25-17
Meredith Norfleet had six kills, three digs and two service aces to pace the Mustangs on Tuesday.
Shadow Wiskur, Lorelei Schlomer and Mariah Wiskur added four kills apiece.
Whitney Brown had 15 assists and Brittani Hunter led in digs with five and also had two aces.
Osceola def. Warsaw 25-16, 25-23
Kasey Goodsell had four kills and Jessica Cook and Holly Roellig added three kills each for the Wildcats in their season opener Tuesday.
Carrie Roellig led the Wildcat defense with four digs and had two aces. Hannah Spry had four aces and 11 assists.
