S-C drops opener in district meet

The Smith-Cotton boys soccer team watched its season end Saturday in the Class 3, District 9 tournament in Columbia.

Fourth-seeded Hickman beat the No. 5 Tigers 7-0 on its home field.

Hickman will face top-seeded Rock Bridge in the semifinals at 5 p.m. Tuesday. No. 2 Jefferson City will face No. 3 Troy Buchanan at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the other semifinal.

The Tigers, who finished second in the West Central Conference, finished the season 14-8.
