Boonville delivers 13 hits in rout of Lady Tigers

The Sedalia Democrat

The undefeated Boonville Lady Pirates softball team came to Centennial Park ready to swing  its bats.

Boonville pounded out 13 hits and defeated a young Smith-Cotton Lady Tigers squad 11-0 in five innings on Monday night.

Boonville (9-0) wasted little time showing its power. The Lady Pirates got to Smith-Cotton starting pitcher Beth Privitt for five runs in the top of the first inning.

Kelly Kluesmeyer drove home the first two runs with a single, and then a pair of walks loaded the bases.

Lindie Adair brought all three runners home with a double to the fence in left field, putting Boonville up 5-0.

Jordan Woods reached base with a one-out hit for the Lady Tigers, but Boonville starter Maria Imhoff got the next two batters to end any threat.

That hit was just one of two that Smith-Cotton (1-5) got off Imhoff, who worked five innings, struck out seven and picked up the win.

The Lady Pirates added a run in the second, getting a two-out RBI single from Jessica Kluesmeyer to make it  6-0. Maggie Bradshaw drove home two more runs in the third, boosting the Boonville lead to 8-0.

Tiffany Wehmeyer took over on the mound for the Lady Tigers in the fourth, but the Lady Pirates continued to drive the ball.

Adair drove in her fourth run of the game with a single, and when she drew a throw on her attempt to steal second, Kelly Kluesmeyer raced home from third with the 10th run of the game.

Jessica Hardy collected the second hit for the Lady Tigers in the fourth, a line drive to left, but once again Imhoff got the next two batters and ended the inning.

Sidney Schneider completed the scoring for Boonville with a run-scoring single in the fifth.
