After defeating Green Ridge 10-0 on Wednesday for the championship of the Kaysinger Conference baseball tournament on Wednesday, what could Cole Camp do for an encore three days later against the same team?

Even better.

The Bluebirds easily advanced to the semifinals of the Class 2, District 13 tournament on Saturday with a 16-0 mercy-rule shellacking of the Tigers at Cole Camp.

Aaron Pitts went the complete five innings for the Bluebirds with a five-hitter, striking out seven and walking one.

Pitts also contributed heavily to the offensive onslaught, going 3-for-3 with five runs batted in and two runs scored. Garrett Gilbert also went 3-for-3 with four RBIs and three runs. Tyler Rusk was 2-for-4 with two runs and Andrew Yeager was also 2-for-4 as the Bluebirds were again rough on Brett Shoop, who’d taken the loss in Wednesday’s game.

The Bluebirds led 8-0 through three innings and blew the game wide open with an eight-run fourth.

Cole Camp will face St. Paul Lutheran, a 3-1 winner over Crest Ridge, in a semifinal matchup at 6:30 p.m. Monday in Cole Camp. Higginsville will play Lincoln in the other semifinal at 4 p.m.
