ROUNDUP: Pilot Grove boys advance to New Franklin semis

Fourth-seeded Pilot Grove scored 42 points combined in the first and fourth quarters Monday night.
That was more than enough to lead the Tigers past Sweet Springs 63-54 in the first round of the New Franklin boys basketball tournament.
Pilot Grove led 21-14 after one quarter, 29-24 at halftime and 42-36 after three quarters.
Zach Glenn paced the Tigers with 23 points. Jacob Schuster added 16.
Nick Peeples scored a game-high 24 points for Sweet Springs. Tyler Dohrman added 11.
Pilot Grove will meet top-seeded Westran in the semifinals at 6 p.m. Thursday. Westran routed Prairie Home 84-21 Monday night.
St. Elizabeth 89, Osage JV 39
Tyler Holtmeyer’s game-high 30 points Monday night led top-seeded St.
Elizabeth into the semifinals of the Stover Invitational.
Chris Wilde added 20 points for the St. Elizabeth boys basketball team.
Dakota McDaniel led Osage with 16 points.
St. Elizabeth will face the winner of the Stover-Iberia game at 6 p.m. Thursday.
Stover and Iberia will meet at 6 p.m. today.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Slater 53, Sweet Springs 43
The Slater Lady Wildcats outscored Sweet Springs 15-9 in the third quarter Monday night in the New Franklin girls basketball tournament.
Slater shot out to a 17-11 lead after one quarter, but Sweet Springs rallied to trail only 25-23 at halftime.
Rachel Gonzalez scored a game-high 16 points for Slater.
Rachel Thornton had 10 for Sweet Springs.
Slater will face top-seeded New Franklin in the semifinals at 4:30 p.m. Thursday. New Franklin beat Prairie Home 50-17 Monday night.
Laquey 65, Versailles 38
The Laquey Lady Hornets beat Versailles on Monday night in the Stover Invitational girls basketball tournament.
Tyler Brock scored a game-high 23 points for Laquey.
Raven Woods paced Versailles with 15 points. Cassie Wilhelm added 12.
Versailles will play Stover at 4:30 p.m. today. Laquey will meet Stover at 5 p.m. Wednesday.
The top half of the girls bracket uses pool play while the bottom half is bracket play.
Iberia 42, Osage 32
Sixth-seeded Iberia outscored No. 3 Osage 14-3 in the fourth quarter Monday night in the Stover Invitational.
The Osage girls basketball team led 13-7 after one quarter. The score was tied at 20 at halftime and 29 after three quarters.
Hattie Duncan scored a game-high 20 points for Iberia.
Renee Lisar added eight for Osage.
Iberia will play the winner of the Cole Camp-Tipton game in the semifinals at 8 p.m. Wednesday.
The Cole Camp-Tipton game was played late Monday night.
