Betteridge, Krause win sportsmanship scholarships

The Sedalia Democrat

Mary Betteridge, of Pilot Grove, and Joel Krause, of Knob Noster, have won this year’s Jim Rissler Sportsmanship Scholarships.

The scholarships, presented by the Sedalia Officials Association, were named after Jim Rissler, of Sedalia, who was a long-time basketball referee and a former state observer of referees.

Betteridge, a two-year starter, led Pilot Grove in rebounding last season, averaging around eight a game.

She has signed to play softball at North Central Missouri College in Trenton.

Krause not only played basketball at Knob Noster, but he competed in football and track and field.

He plans to attend Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau.

Hillary Kahle, of Bunceton, Wes Mueller, of Stover, and Kyle Brethower, of Lincoln, were runners-up.
