Baldwin picks NAIA power
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Kelsey Baldwin, a key member of Sacred Heart’s volleyball team that won consecutive Class 1 state championships, has signed with NAIA power Columbia College.
Baldwin helped the Gremlins win four conference and two district championships and will play libero and on defense for Columbia College.
“Kelsey is a great addition to our ’09 squad,” Columbia coach Melinda Wyre-Washington said in a press release. “She possesses a great platform and quick feet for defending, as well as coming in from a program who has won the last two Missouri (Class 1) state titles. She has a great serve to accompany her defensive skills.”
Baldwin was an all-stater for the Gremlins and holds school records for most digs in a season and a career. She is second in the state in career digs, according to the MSHSAA record book.
Baldwin also played basketball and softball for four years at Sacred Heart.
Columbia College has won three national championships and was the national runner-up three times over the past 10 years. The school has qualified for the national tournament in every year since 1994.
