S-C freshman takes 23rd at state meet

The Sedalia Democrat

Smith-Cotton freshman Derrick Kerbo finished 23rd Saturday in the Missouri state boys diving championships.

He was cut after the first round, which included five dives, at the St. Peters Rec-Plex in suburban St. Louis.

“I’m real proud of him. He did a real good job for being his first time at state and seeing that caliber of diver,” S-C coach Jerry Tankersley said.

Kerbo, who was the only freshman to qualify for state, scored a 150.05.

“He’s already talking about getting to work for next year,” Tankersley said.
